Book 4

4.17 The master said, “When you see someone who is worthy, concentrate upon becoming their equal; when you see someone who is unworthy, use this opportunity to look within them.
As I read this, I realized that sometimes we should reflect more on our actions. Sometimes we judge people from their outside and that gives us certain opinions that we are unable to fully develop until we look beyond the outside and look within the person. When we get a first impression we might say that a person looks beautiful in the outside but however, how do we really now his/her character? If we look around we usually stay with the people that we consider right, good, or similar to us, but what if we didn’t look beyond that. We would end up with no friends and alone in this world, because everyone is different. We will always have discussions or different points of view with other people, but doesn’t mean we can’t be friends with them or even admire them. A true friend will always try to comprehend you, although he/she may think differently. We admire people like our favorite actors, writers, singers, and artists. We can concentrate to become similar to them or become their equal. But within us we should always concentrate on looking in the inside before the outside of a person.
